BuildStream raises $1.7M to build the future of hiring in the engineering sector
We are excited to officially launch BuildStream, the online marketplace where independent quality inspectors and auditors can find well paid work with energy, manufacturing and engineering companies without the hassle of using agencies.
Today’s hiring process is broken
Employers relying on job boards and LinkedIn are inundated with too many CV’s of varying quality requiring additional vetting steps. This slows their process down and results in a worse experience for candidates.
External recruiters provide a more personal service, but charge high fees, prioritise larger clients and are unable to help candidates unless there’s a fit with a role they’re currently working on.
Candidates apply for roles based on vague descriptions, send documents to multiple recruiters and waste time chasing status updates and payments due to a lack of transparency.

This funding will accelerate the growth of our network of employers and candidates globally, improve our matching automations, and enable the launch new financial features throughout the coming year.

Zero cost to start: Employers list roles for free and we send them verified, high quality candidates without the hassle of generic job boards or expense of using agencies. For successful hires, employers pay a fixed fee on top of the worker’s day rate.
All-in-one solution: Everything from sourcing and scheduling to payments and communication is managed through the platform, saving time on paperwork and improving efficiency across the process.

Better for candidates
Profile creation: Each candidate is assigned a technical expert from our team and we create a BuildStream profile via a technical interview, CV analysis and validation of their certifications.
Accurate matching: We only send candidates roles they’re qualified for, in the locations they’re willing to work. Depending on the employer's preference, candidates can bid for work or accept the proposed rate.
Faster, better pay: We offer fast pay to every worker, and by cutting out unnecessary agency fees we have been able to improve pay rates by 20% consistently.
In trials we’ve supported some of the world’s largest wind farm developers, offshore contractors, cable manufacturers and regional engineering firms. We’ve helped them undertake supplier audits, source new suppliers, inspect products, welds and paint coatings, and review documents and procedures.
We learned that there is a vast opportunity to include all the existing administrative tasks involved in recruiting inspectors into a single, transparent digital platform. This will save time, money and reduce risks for employers, while providing economic opportunity and a better way to build a career in the sector for our candidates.
