Jonathan Murray is a former Royal Navy Engineering Technician and Nuclear Systems trainer with seven years experience as an inspector, mostly working in the subsea sector, providing a variety of services such as Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), expediting, mechanical and electrical testing and vendor inspections.
Louis Dreyfus Travocean have specialised in submarine cable installations dedicated to offshore wind farms in France and mainly in Northern Europe for more than 15 years.
“As a freelance inspector, I have some flexibility in my schedule between serving regular clients where I’m the semi-resident inspector, so I like to keep an eye on the market to fill gaps in in my schedule wherever possible”
Jonathan was contacted with a requirement from BuildStream to provide inspection support at a winching services company on behalf of our client, Louis Dreyfus Travocean. The works required a quick turnaround as it was in response to the semi-resident inspector being unexpectedly unavailable, and it was essential that the team worked to the planned schedule, to avoid delays to the project downstream.
Jonathan was quickly matched to the role as a suitable vendor based on his skills, experience, and also his location being relatively close to the inspection location which reduced the travel requirement and associated costs.
All project communication, document sharing, signatures and scheduling was managed in the BuildStream platform. This digital approach kept Jonathan, the client, and the supplier connected and helped to ensure the right information was readily available without having to rely on long email threads or risk working from an outdated document.
On successful completion of the works, the inspection results were approved by the client and Jonathan’s invoice paid by BuildStream the same day.
